1. A 30-year-old Ms. Xue visited Dr. Hu for endometriosis, which was found at anther hospital two months earlier. A B-type ultrasonic examination showed that she had uterus myoma. The patient had had one abortion before. Her periods were normal, but she had had rather acute abdominal and anal pains. After examining her pulse and tongue, Dr. Hu decided that she had insufficiency of Shen (kidney) and stagnant blood in her body. The doctor then prescribed traditional Chinese medicine according to the patient’s menstrual periods. Half a year later, the patient got pregnant and had a healthy baby boy.
2. A 43-year-old Miss Liu visited Dr. Hu for ovarian cyst. She had had algomenorrhea for twenty years. Her menstrual periods were short but normal except for the algomenorrhea. At the end of February 1996, she had an operation for endometriosis. Before long, she was found to have another ovarian cyst. At the end of February 1998, a B-type ultrasonic examination at another hospital showed that both of her ovaries had cysts. She received treatment at that hospital for over a year but her symptoms did not have much improvement. Dr. Hu treated her with traditional Chinese medicine according to her menstrual periods for over a year. The cysts gradually disappeared, so did her algomenorrhea. |

Since 1994, she had not been able to conceive because of the algomenorrhea and menostaxis. A gynecological examination and a B-ultrasonic examination found a cyst on the inner membrane of her right ovarium, which had caused secondary barrenness. After the dialectal therapy of traditional medicine by Dr. Ma for three months, her algomenorrhea was eased and her ovarial cyst became smaller. Five months later, her menstruation returned to normal. In March 1999, she gave birth to a boy. 3. A thirty-three-year-old Ms. Li visited Dr. Ma for barrenness in 1988. She had not been able to conceive a child after a miscarriage five years before. Salpingography showed that her fallopian tubes were "not very smooth though unobstructed". A gynecological examination found that her uterus was normal in size, but her adnexa were thicker than normal, and pressure on them would cause slight pain. Her menstruation was normal, but she had irritable breasts and dull abdominal pain before each menstrual period. After taking Dr. Ma's prescriptions of traditional Chinese medicine for nine months, she got pregnant. |
