Dr. Li was graduated from Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1962. She is currently Director of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of a major hospital in Shanghai.
Having long been engaged in the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine and combined therapy of Chinese and Western medicine, Dr. Li excels in the treatment of various hard-treat diseases, particularly myasthenia gravis. From over 4,000 cases in her nearly four decades of clinic experience, she has summed up a unique combined therapy of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. She was the first to propose the theory of tonifying the spleen and kidneys for the treatment of myasthenia gravis in mainland China. Besides, she invented a “Power Series” of Chinese medications for it, including Power I Infusion and Power II Infusion, Power Drink, and Power Man Capsules, the general effective rate of which is as high as over 95% with a very low rate of relapse. In addition, she has rich experience in the treatment of other autoimmune diseases such as polymyositis, amyotrophia and multiple sclerosis. |

1. A 22-year-old Ms Shi visited Dr. Li for systemic myasthenia gravis from which she had suffered for two years. Her musculi oculi, musculi faciali, musculi masseter, and musculi glossopharyngeus, as well as those of the respiratory systems and limbs, were impaired. Her weight dropped quickly from 55 kg to 44.5 kg. She was so weak that she was not able to clear the thick phlegm that always seemed to be in her throat. As a result, she even found it difficult to eat food. In the initial stage of the treatment, Dr. Li adopted the method of tonifying the lungs and eliminating the phlegm, which lasted for over two months until the amount of her phlegm was considerably reduced and her voice became remarkably louder. In the second stage, the emphasis of treatment shifted to tonifying both the spleen and the kidneys, which lasted for another two months and greatly improved her general physical conditions. One year later, she was fully recovered. She then resumed her work, got married and had a healthy child. She has never had any relapse of the disease. 2. A seven-year-old boy who had suffered from ptosis for two months and had taken western medications without much improvement visited Dr. Li. He had no appetite and was very weak. Dr. Li treated him with the method of tonifying middle-Jiao and Qi while using western medications. Half a month later, his conditions were greatly improved and Dr. Li decided to stop using western medications. Four months later, the boy was recovered and his general physical conditions became much better. 3. A 20-year-old Ms Huang visited Dr. Li for myasthenia gravis of the musculi oculi and hyperthyroidism. She had ptosis, her limbs were rather weak, and her hands were constantly shivering. Dr. Li adopted the methods of tonifying the Ying and eliminating the phlegm and strengthening the spleen and tonifying the Qi. The patient took Chinese medications for half a year and received the combined therapy of traditional Chinese and Western medicine for about one year. At present, the patient has stopped taking any medications and is considered fully recovered. |

1. A forty-year-old Ms. Wang had suffered from facial spasms for three years with symptoms of paroxysmal facial spasms in the left side of her face. Initially she had had uncontrollable twitches of eyelids, which developed into increasingly serious facial spasms. As medications and acupuncture treatment produced little effect, she received an operation by Dr. Ren in 1992. The operation removed her facial spasms without causing facial paralysis. Her facial spasms have never recurred ever since.
2. A fifty-nine-year-old Mr. Lu had suffered from paroxysmal acute pain in his right cheek, his mouth corners and lips for five years. Even a light touch on the right mouth corner might induce great pain. His symptoms were diagnosed as trifacial neuralgia. In 1993, he received Dr. Ren's operation, after which the pain in his right cheek completely disappeared. His pain has not recurred ever since. His only discomfort now is slight numbness in the right cheek. 3. A sixty-five-year-old Mr. Xu had suffered from paroxysmal tearing pain in the right side of his chin for six years. Even the washing of his face and the eating of food might induce paroxysmal pain. The patient nearly attempted suicide when the pain became intolerable. His illness was then diagnosed as trifacial neuralgia. In 1995 he received Dr. Ren's operation, which removed his pain without even causing any numbness in his face. His illness has never recurred ever since. 4. A fifty-two-year-old Mr. Ding had suffered from paroxysmal acute razor-cutting pain in the left side of his throat for four years. He was even afraid of eating food as it might induce pain. As a result, he often had to support his chin with his hands in order to ease the pain. His illness was diagnosed as left glossopharyngeal neuralgia. In 1992, he received Dr. Ren's operation, which completely removed the pain without causing any complication. The illness has never recurred ever since. |
